20 Years of Growth and Innovation
Materialise China has entered an exciting new chapter. On October 30, 2025, the company opened the doors to its brand-new office in Hongshou Fang, Putuo District — a move that celebrates twenty years of partnership with China’s fast-moving industrial landscape and coincides with Materialise’s 35th anniversary worldwide.
The theme of the celebration, “New Address, New Vision – Smart Manufacturing Ahead,” perfectly reflected the spirit of the day: confidence, collaboration, and a shared belief in what’s ahead.
Guests from across the industry gathered to explore the new workspace and toast to the company’s achievements. The atmosphere felt more like a reunion of long-standing partners than a formal ceremony — a sign of just how deeply rooted Materialise has become in the Chinese market.
Ms. Chris Xiang (向薇女士), General Manager of Materialise China, opened the event by welcoming everyone “home.” She looked back on the company’s journey since 2005: from early prototyping support to today’s large-scale industrial and medical applications, expressing pride in growing side-by-side with Chinese manufacturers.
She described the new office as a creative and collaborative home base for employees and partners alike — a place designed not only for work, but for innovation to happen naturally.
Several special guests joined in congratulating Materialise.
Mr. Pascal Buffin, Consul General of the Kingdom of Belgium in Shanghai, praised the company as a shining example of Belgian innovation thriving in China. He highlighted Materialise’s evolution into a trusted partner and reaffirmed Belgium’s support for open, sustainable cooperation.
Mr. Frank Van Eynde, Trade Commissioner of Flanders Investment & Trade, spoke about Materialise’s beginnings in Leuven and its continued role as a leader in global technology. He encouraged more Chinese companies to explore business in Flanders, a region known for its innovation-friendly environment.
Together, their speeches underlined the strong, mutually beneficial ties between Belgium and China — especially in the fields of advanced manufacturing and healthcare.
Materialise executives also shared insights into how the company is helping shape the future of intelligent manufacturing and personalized healthcare.
Mr. Johan Pauwels, Executive Vice President, emphasized that Materialise remains fully committed to China. He noted that the 3D printing industry is shifting from imagination to implementation, where the focus lies on real-world value and stronger collaboration across the value chain.
Mr. Koen Neutjens introduced Materialise’s software tools that streamline the entire 3D printing production workflow, helping companies cut costs, scale up, and improve efficiency.
Mr. Sebastian De Boodt showcased how Materialise’s medical technologies are already changing lives. To date, more than 600,000 patients worldwide have benefited from personalized 3D-printed treatment solutions.
These stories reminded everyone that behind every technical breakthrough lies a human impact — whether it’s a more efficient factory or a patient receiving better care.
More than a change of address, this relocation represents renewed ambition. With a stronger space and stronger connections, Materialise China is ready to explore new possibilities with its partners — from greener production to smarter healthcare solutions. After twenty years in China, the company is just getting started.
As Materialise moves forward, its vision remains clear: to harness innovation and open collaboration to create a more sustainable future, together with China.
